the paper factory

So, I think that the best choice I made at Trois Rivieres was taking Environment as an elective.
Each class is different and interesting, and the instructor is very nice.

So far we’re gone hiking in the woods, visited an anatomy lab, seen dead stuffed animals [ ick ] and today, we went to the paper factory!

I love paper. I just wish that the tour had been in english so that I would have understood it all.
I also wish that the machines would have been up and running while we were there, but that would have been unsafe.

Sigh.

This has just left me with a large urge to find kraft paper envelopes.

Old Quebec City

So on Saturday we went to Quebec City.

It was beautiful! It makes me wonder why there isn’t an “Old Toronto.”

There should be. We mostly stayed in Old Quebec.

I fell in love with the cobblestones and Simons.

Warning: These photos are not the best. I was too excited to stop and get good shots!

Trois rivieres, J’explore

So, when I began attempting to research trois rivieres, and the j’explore program, I totally couldn’t find ANY information, except the general goverment site, and some girl’s livejournal post.

So I decided to try to make a more informative post? Kind of.

I am currently in trois rivieres, a small town in Quebec, participating in the J’Explore program…where you are supposed to speak only french. I hope that writing in english is okay.

I arrived here by bus from Toronto. Strangely, the Coach Canada bus was super cheap to Montreal. The shorter Trois Rivieres bus was more expensive. It took me about 5 hours to get to Montreal, and then I transferred to a 2 hour Orleans Express bus to Trois Rivieres, and then I took a taxi for about 10 minutes to the school.

They give us meal tickets for the sometimes dubious cafeteria food, but it’s a lot of food, and it’s really good not to pay for food every day.
In the morning there’s class from 9am-1230pm, and then there’s a class we get to choose in the afternoon from 130- 330. I chose Enviornment, because I really wanted to go to the biodome and “dans le forre.”

Tomorrow we’re taking a trip into the city.

Today I had a really strange pastry called a, vol-au-vent, which means flight in the wind. I was really dissapointed that it was empty….I was hoping it would have a filling. I intend to eat lots of stuff tomorrow to make up for it, though.

Bon nuit!

I was going to load pictures….but this internet connection won’t let me?
